Department of Medicine, IGGMC is presently headed by Dr.Prashant Joshi. Department of Medicine has 9 Post Graduate teachers in Medicine, 2 postgraduate teachers in Psychiatry and 2 postgraduate teachers in Dermatology. Department of Medicine manages the ICCU & MICU, each consisting of 5 beds, with Central Oxygen Supply and Central Suction facility. The ICCU & MICU are well equipped with multi-para Monitors, Ventilators, Defibrillators, ABG machines, Infusion pumps, ECG machines, Nebulizers, 2-D Echocardiography machine. Two Hemodialysis machines and spirometer is also available. Patients suspected /diagnosed to have H1N1 (Swine flu ) are admitted and treated in a special ward. The MBBS students are posted to the OPD and the wards of Medicines from 2nd year till final year over various periods of time. Their clinical bed side teaching and class room lectures are held from 2nd year till final year as per MUHS instructions. Six post-graduate students are admitted every year to the course of M.D General Medicine, which is recognized by MCI. These students are selected by the DMER based on the PG-CET regulations. Post-graduate activities are daily from Monday to Friday.
